As brilliant a speaker as his portrait painter is an artist. Both capture the essence with scintillating accuracy.

Volcker warns of danger from U.S. deficits | Reuters

When a company is run this poorly, the shareholders demand new leadership. We, the people, are the shareholders as well as the income stream for this company called the United States of America. If we don’t demand new leadership, then we deserve to be the third world nation we’re becoming…and some think by design. After all, it’s hard to imagine that many politicians being that incredibly inept.

Foxconn Employees Forced To Sign ‘No Suicide’ Pledge: Report | Epicenter | Wired.com

The iProblem:

Labor laws in China dictate that overtime should not exceed 36 hours per month. The report says that workers are usually subjected to 50 to 80 hours of overtime a month. In the Chengdu facility — where Foxconn employees put together the iPad — staff could expect a grueling 80 to 100 hours of overtime, on top of the 174 regular work hours.

Good to blog about, especially while using an iPad.

Weekly jobless claims unexpectedly leap 43K to 474K, highest since last summer - NYPOST.com

Clearly, whoever it is that is in the business of expecting certain results, who finds invariably that whatever the results may be, the one thing they all have in common is that they are ‘unexpected”, should find another job.One where they might expect to be right at least more often than a broken clock. I can’t remember the last time I read a news story about “expected” results. One thing is for sure certain: that my expectation to win the lottery is more accurate more frequently that those who presumably are paid to know what to expect, yet are invariable wrong, nearly 100% of time. Goodness knows, if they were in the medical profession, insurance premiums would be pointless as the insurance company would have to pay all the time for  every policy holder 100% of the time, as they would never get it right. Ever. All premiums would have to reflect 100% of the cost of every conceivable procedure in order for the insurance companies to stay in business.
What nonsense that we, the reading public, should ever take the press seriously on anything. Ever.
Now, was that really unexpected?

No Break This Spring at the Gas Pump - ABC News

How to starve to death with a full pantry? Eat every meal in restaurants and never use the food you already own. Eventually, you will run out of money. Refusing to use what you already have, you starve.

As long as our oil comes from foreign sources rather than from our own supplies, the instabilities of  those governments will lead to the instability of our great and potentially self-sufficient nation as our leadership leads us well…right over the brink. Oil companies should not be allowed to be in the business unless they reinvest a portion of their profit every year into making gasoline less expensively and more abundantly. Too much of this nations economy is tied to that one commodity.

U.S. credit rating outlook lowered by S&P - Yahoo! Finance

Obama's hatred of conservatives and the GOP exceeds his love for America. His ability to bring differing sides together in a united front to save this country from the brink is simply not there. All he can do is to blame the other side. Imagine the president of a corporation doing that in a board meeting. Unable to reconcile the differences, he would be replaced in a heartbeat with someone capable of actually getting the job done. He really must think he is a king, not actually a president, a hired servant of the people with a job to do. He behavior is merely that of a human Chihuahua…nipping at the ankles of anything that comes near enough while barking so loudly, one would think he actually had something to wield. Destruction and inability …along with pooping on the lawn of Democracy… are his only strong points. And like the Chihuahua, everyone thinks he so cute and wants to pet him. Until they get bitten.
Right now, under his leadership and on his watch, the greatest nation in earth’s history is entering the whirlpool at the bottom of the bowl because the guy in charge can’t do the job that needs to be done. Suddenly I wonder if W saw this coming and gladly handed the wheel to this guy, after setting him on a course for the brink of his own destruction, encouraging TARP, knowing that O saw it as a socialist mechanism and simply followed the lead, This way, he would prove to the world that a guy without a resume is really not the right choice for change…unless a change with no hope was what one wanted.
